The THING game goes LIVE on 11/28/13!

Hello! I've been working on the Thing game for my friend Richard on the encounter backgrounds and some of the ending images.

I also found out I'm an NPC in the game. I'm apparently really badass.

If you have trouble viewing it, here is the link.

It's free to play.

Here is his ModDB.

Well, I've been doing some backgrounds more for my lovely friend Richard.

He just loves the Thing 2 and well, I love helping people and making art and it worked out.

He's also a very lovely person to work with, so please give him more love.

Tsunami

Well, a lot of stuff has happened then there was a lull and it happened again.

I just finished up with two projects with two fashion companies, one with one art company, and put in a graphic proposal for a film. I've moved to a nice new place and am quite pleased that things are going well.

I'm going to star in a comedy show called 'Community' of which stars Chevy Chase, Joel McHale, and Yvette Nicole brown. I'll be Hillary the Coffee girl. It will be interesting to see how things go.

There are a few other projects that are being developed and I shall let you know what new things are happening.

I also want to take a moment that my dear friend Alison Bane, passed away peacefully after a brave fight with melanoma. She was the creator of Olive Jane and I feel fortunate not only to have worked with her, but to have known her personally. She brought out the best in people and was an unending source of optimism, life, and joy. She showed that in her clothes and in her attitude despite this disease. She left behind a loving man, a lovely daughter, and a whole caboodle of wonderful friends and family that I can't count on all of my digits.

Godspeed to you, Alison. I was glad to have met you. We will all miss you terribly.

cthulu priestess/bride

I drew an original Cthulu princess/bride, but I really seriously didn't like it.
Now, this is so much the better. I love finding the perfect reference for such things.
I will paint this when I feel more in tune, although I do have the colors in my mind, but I think I'm formulating the brushstrokes and combination.

Wow. When I think I can't draw anymore, I freaking suprise myself.

This was done in 10-20minutes. I feel good.

This concept was I believe done in 35-40 mins. I just wanted to get Cthulhu down because I just wanted to draw that mofo. I went by this description.

"yielded simultaneous pictures of an octopus, a dragon, and a human caricature"

I'll probaby get more complex. I just wanted to get the monster down after so many dang tries!

Sometimes when I behold a certain body part, even though it seems simple enough, the fact is that you have to draw the shape around it sometimes in order to get it right. If you notice with mouths, they are surrounded by muscle and just skin. This may sound redundant, but I found today that if I draw a circle around the intended mouth, then I can mirror the shape inside and it will look right.

I especially like the one of the infant, the other one in pen was to just see how I could line things. Also, I liked how the placement of the chin muscles would work as well.

I started today also drawing young women. Every person has a stage in life where the look differs, but the person is still recognizable. Plus, I wanted to get the expressions down as well. The eyes were kind of my bane as well.

Another challenging aspect is faceted gemstones. You may think that they are all geometric and such, but to be honest, there are two things complicating it. Both of them pretain to the aspect that the item itself is faceted. First of all, you have to see how the colors bend and such, and sometimes the discernable pattern is not really there. Secondly, they're faceted and displayed as such to show bright points. But oh my lord, what bright points they are, plus varying other colors, AND you got to keep them crisp.

Aye yi yi. My brain is so tired. XD

Here are some of the different styles I've been experimenting on. Even though I'm happy how these are going, I must push myself more and more to be better and better.

After my nap. :)

I've been feeling rather the closest what I can really describe as 'mucky'. My thoughts have been scattered as of Sunday.

I was reading Jane Eyre in great detail last night and there was a description of one of her drawings. Well, I drew it, but was not quite sure how to fit the mast in as described with the cormorant and the dead arm.

I've always liked cyberpunk and steampunk. I've been strangely drawn to Victorian-era style clothing. There's something about the antiquity, and yes, there is something alluring about it to even sexy even though it covers everything. However, I am trying to feminize some of the articles of men's clothing at the time and trying to piecemeal a character...

Could be something to do with Keith Thompson's DVD I'm watching... Ha ha ha. The tutorial is about him drawing a Napoleonic-war era zombie, so it could have something to do with it.

Brains....brainsssszzzzzzzzz..... Ugh I hate my sinuses. Please, some zombie eat them....

Sinus headaches and artwork don't mix. However, I am having good energy and cranked out a couple of pieces so far today. I'm going to see if I can improve upon any more if I can. If not, tomorrow's another day. ;)

For some reason, Photoshop did NOT like this file. I can't see why, for it wouldn't save it as a GIF or a JPEG file, but I had this as an RGB (for the reference lines). I could see why at CMYK, but after I saved it as an RGB for a while, it still was not accepting it. I had to convert it in another graphic program and then it worked. Anyway, wierd. Here's some water droplets on her fur... as a study.

This is the color study. I'm throwing paint down faintly to see what works and what doesn't, and also how much dark should I go or not go. It's a way for me to get warmed up before I go all full-out color. Usually, I shade in grays first, but I wanted to see how the color scheme worked as I'm experimenting with new swatches.

Practicing with fur texture. It's quite a nice study actually. Working from a photo of a friend's cat.

I got a good basis going, so I'll continue, but wanted to show the work in process.

Well here are samples of work that I have done in lieu of progression from top to bottom.

This was a revisit to an old, old drawing. I was listening to Dave Matthew's 'The Space Between' with one of my characters running rampant in my head, eluding her details from me.

One had hard light markings, the other is a softer, more regular. I may revisit this one. I love the idea and the study, but I think how I colored it could be better.

This is one I am actively pursuing. I like her lines and honestly, the whole thing is cool.
