Technical difficulties

For some reason, my website went poop. I have no idea why, but my server is working on it.

Everything else is fine, but the illustrations/concept seems broken. We're working on the issue now.

It will all be all right soon.

Other than that I've had a very Merry Christmas and look forward to the new year. How about you?

Saturday, December 19, 2009

So, hope that your Christmastime with your families are going well.

I've been so crazy busy with my art and the acting bit that I haven't had time to sit down, but hey, that's what one wants is to be fruitful and just be busy with what they want to do.

Chinatown Art Quarterly Nite was a success, we got a lot of people, despite the rain.

So, I've been on CSI the previous night and the very next morning, on an infomercial for a drug rehab center called Passages. I just was in the audience, listening.

The author and co-founder of the institution, Chris Prentiss was really nice and he gave us all complimentary copies of his new book. It was pretty nice on top of an average day's work in sunny Malibu. His drug rehab policy sounds very effective as other co-founder, his son Pax had used to have been an addict. It was a good thing instead of living with an issue, you confront it and resolve it instead of it being YOU. It was good.

The new book is called, "The Alcoholism and Addiction Cure".

Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Happy Holidays too.

Chinatown Art Walk

Tonight, I will be at the HABLA gallery for our showing of Oh Mama! from 12-9pm. I'll be premiering my 'Cowbride' painting as well as showing a lovely fertility/Christmas aspect with my AV 35. I'll be there and you're free to talk to me about my artwork. (Which artist doesnt?)

I also am showing with a lot of other talented people so feel free to run about and talk with them why doncha?

Oh Mama!

Directions are also on the website.

I've just been working my tail off. I had to be on a show from literally sunrise to sundown all three days, and on another show the same amount of time. It was really amazing.

Nerds Rejoice.

For I stood 10 feet away from David Tennant on the set of the pilot of his new show, "Rex Is Not My Lawyer". It was very cold.

He asked me to run away with him. ****

****Not really. I was only background. :P

Christmas keeps a'coming in...

I will be showing two new pieces in a show called "Oh Mama" in the HABLA Underground Gallery during the Quarterly LA Art Walks. What I wanted with "Cow Bride" was to take a much better look at the cow in terms of marriages. I went on the Hindu and other culture's perspective of how it is valued in giving birth/fertility, providing milk, cheese, yogurt, and meat, to the gentleness and the hope of a new marriage. I didn't want to go out of my way to make the stereotypical woman=cattle=slavery type situation, but to make it a more sacred piece of loving an nurturing - of which we want to associate motherhood and marriage with.

Also, I've been filming in a movie called "Bus Stop Conspiracy". It's been the first day, but it's been a fun day. Whee.

Whew.

Well things have been busy to say the least.

I finished a project in which I reached a personal milestone. Now to raise the bar for me. :)

I've been busy doing background work and meeting awesome people in shows like: House, Men of A Certain Age, Community, Better Off Ted, Dexter, Heroes, and an Italian movie called "Christmas in Beverly Hills". Wewt...

HABLA is doing another gallery showing called "Harvest". A bunch of us are there in Lili Bernard's studio displaying work. I am currently selling prints and the pieces there.

The opening night is on the 7th from 6-9pm.

ESPIRITUXIAN HABLA Gallery Opening

Hey All;

Been busy working on-set for both Community and Men of A Certain Age. I worked 4 days last week and boy do I feel good.

HABLA has closed their show for "Eastland" and now our new show of which I will be in will be called "ESPIRITUXIAN" of which deals with the ephemereal, ethereal, and spiritual.

The gallery will be in the Chunking Artist's alley in the basement of Lili Bernard's studio.

Directions here.

I will be featured as well as quite a few of our artists in our collaborative. I'll be around at those times. My prints, giclees, and cards will be sold there as well.

See you there!

New Art and other things...

Hi. Been busy.

I was on the set of 'Men of A Different Age' and 'Cold Case' doing some background work.

I did a couple more arts and made a Facebook group so you can see what I'm doing and what's going on in my creative life.

Have fun!

*Since Blogger is being an ass for some reason, you can see my images on the Facebook page.

Tsunami

Well, a lot of stuff has happened then there was a lull and it happened again.

I just finished up with two projects with two fashion companies, one with one art company, and put in a graphic proposal for a film. I've moved to a nice new place and am quite pleased that things are going well.

I'm going to star in a comedy show called 'Community' of which stars Chevy Chase, Joel McHale, and Yvette Nicole brown. I'll be Hillary the Coffee girl. It will be interesting to see how things go.

There are a few other projects that are being developed and I shall let you know what new things are happening.

I also want to take a moment that my dear friend Alison Bane, passed away peacefully after a brave fight with melanoma. She was the creator of Olive Jane and I feel fortunate not only to have worked with her, but to have known her personally. She brought out the best in people and was an unending source of optimism, life, and joy. She showed that in her clothes and in her attitude despite this disease. She left behind a loving man, a lovely daughter, and a whole caboodle of wonderful friends and family that I can't count on all of my digits.

Godspeed to you, Alison. I was glad to have met you. We will all miss you terribly.

Technical Difficulties

Say hello to Skapon. :)

He's a fascinating character from Joy Mech Fight.

Yes, it is a Japanese game.

And yes, the professor's names did make me snicker.

Well, I finally sat down and drew. Draw I certainly did. Then I found out that my stylus pen broke.

Dagnabbit and dammit.

So, I'll have to go and grab a new tablet/pennage, but I did manage to pound something out via mouse and scans.

I've been watching 'Joy Mech' for a while and that's been my inspiration lately to draw. They are fighting robots without limbs and what they do strangely fascinates me.

I've also been looking up old NES and SNES games to see if I can re-draw the characters again. I call it a nice form of exercise.

Whee.

Here's a bit of reference from 'Joy Mech Fight' if you see what I mean. I'll probably put more stuff up as I get back into the drawing.

4:20 is comedy gold in this one right there.

Zelda

I think I like this one. I may paint it. :D

Long time.

It's been a while...

Been kind of keeping to myself, trying to find my rhythm and groove and it seems I got knocked out of the spinning LP. I had to get back on.

It's not that I don't want to study or get better. I just realized that I lost track of some things. So for a while, I'm going to draw stuff I like at the moment. I got too clinical. It's not that clinical isn't important, it's just that I think that sometimes a balance should be achieved.

YES!

Well first of all I'm happy to say that one of the mods I've been working with got noted in the community.

Currently, one of the projects is Red Alert 3: Southern Rising. We got a shout out from the Command and Conquer forums and we're mentioned at 17:25 and they show a sample of one of my works at 17:45!

I certainly feel proud and happy that I've been blessed to work with great people and that we collaborate well.

Link here.

Oh yeah, I'm going to E3. It will be fun and I'm excited.

Re-Do

I may put these up in my portfolio. I am going to work on another SLIM concept, but I cleaned these up tonight.

Recent Concepts

On top of gigs, I've been finding time to do some mod work.

Right now, I've been working on a couple of mods, and have done concept pieces for both.

This is a C4 charge and detonator for Seven.

Another one is for a Red Alert 3: Southern Rising.

I can write in my own hand!

And at the end of the day, I will not have the tired scrawl that doctors normally do after writing 10 million perscriptions.

Whee!

Quick! Before it all runs out!

New things and updates and wow promo!

Hello!

First of all, I'd love to state that my client, Olive Jane is having a get-together and she's having a sale on her line! I invite you to come if you can. If you somehow can't make it as wild boars take over your house, then feel free to give her a call and get the clothes! She'd be happy to have you!

But, there is NO reason why you should not come. There are cupcakes.

MmmmMMmmmm... delishus cupcakes....

You know you want to.

(**Note: Blogger is being dumb and cutting off the graphic invite. Here is the direct link so that you can print it for your information or just to hold this graphic in your hot little hand.)

Here's her website and Facebook, so you can let her know to attend. If you somehow don't have a Facebook, then get one or email her: info@olivejane.net

Another update is that the SON - Kingdom Album is DONE!

Here is a low-res version of the image. The printable image will be soon available to purchase.
(Plus the load time would have increased exponentially if I posted the hi-res one on the blog.)

Click on the image to get the full layout, as Blogger seems to cut off images.

These images are also available in my portfolio website. They are under my Graphic Design aspect of my site in the Resume page.

The Arrogant Man

I had been working on this concept for the past few days now.

This is the Arrogant Man, or the Prince in the Chzo Mythos series.

Download Yahtzee's games, they are fun, a throwback to the old style type games you used to play as a small tyke. Plus, the stories are quite good overall, with disturbing elements, and good mythical lore.

Did another one:

The Dark Side

Well, I've gone to the Dark Side.

I've gone to DeviantArt.

My user name is TehChristieShinn.

I'm still setting it up, but the plan is that you can also buy my prints off of varying things they offer.

Have fun!

Sketch time!

I was watching a walkthrough of Silent Hill 5. Man, I should get that game.

Harry Mason or James Sunderland? It's kind of hard to tell as they are melancholy characters.

Drone. Inspired by Silent Hill's wierdness for bugs. May make into color.

Not related to Silent Hill, but my avatar.

Face study. Love this one. I may paint it.

Monday, January 19, 2009

Wow. It's been a long time.

My apologies as I have not kept on this blog as often as I should. I've been going nuts with just life in general--as well as client contracts that I've been making it feel neglected.

Here are some sketches that I managed to do in my moments in time.
